TravelTek sets sights on major growth for 2008
Scotland-based travel technology specialist Traveltek is to open its first office in London as part of a wider strategy to double the size of the business during 2008.
The announcement of a new office follows the opening of an operation at East Midlands Airport in 2006 and the decision to employ ten new people across the company.
Five positions will be formed in the development team and Ross MacDonald joins from Teletext Holidays as national sales manager.
TravelTek is also reported to be seeking to grow the business through the acquisition of a technology company.
Managing director Kenny Picken said a raft of new clients had joined the company in recent years, especially to its landmark cruise product.
Hayes Travel, Wexas, First Choice Holidays, Holiday Hypermarket and the LowCost Group are all using the cruise dynamic packaging product on their websites, Picken said.
Other new clients for its dynamic packaging tool include the First Choice website and call centre, HolidayHypermarket, Holiday Discount Centre, Kwik Travel, Amathus Holidays and Holiday City.
Picken said “We have some very significant expansion in our client base over the last 4 years, not least this year where we have grown by more than 80%.
“I fully expect the company to double in size next year.
“The travel industry has taken note of the very serious advantage we can offer them in the on-line sector with not just the best technology but back up, support and constant evolution to the products, which all make a very compelling proposition.”
