TapTrip eyes rail as driver of corporate travel with Trainline partnership

Integration will make it easier for corporate users to access content and manage bookings

Corporate travel platform TapTrip is enhancing its rail offering through a partnership with the Trainline.

The firm said it sees travel as becoming “the primary source of travel” for domestic business customers post-COVID.

The deal with Trainline Partner Solutions (TPS), the booking app’s B2B arm, has been agreed to tap into increased demand for rail seen before the pandemic.

TapTrip said: “Even before the pandemic, rail has become increasingly more prominent in the business travel sector, due in part to increased scrutiny over the carbon footprint of air travel.

“Wherever possible, more and more businesses are turning to rail over air for employee travel due to wider sustainability concerns.

“According to a recent survey undertaken by GlobalData, 48% of respondents said that reducing their environmental footprint is now more important than prior to this pandemic and 37% declared that this is as important as before.

“And now, as many businesses transition to a semi-flexible working model, with employees working primarily from home and travelling to one central location for a regular team meeting it is anticipated rail travel will become even more important.”

The partnership with TPS will give TapTrip users access to wider rail coverage plus other added perks and flexibility to make booking and manage travel and expense.

Users will be able to process rail ticket refunds within the TapTrip platform itself. For businesses, managing refunds for employee travel will be quicker and more efficient.

Thomas Young, chief executive and co-founder of TapTrip, said: “The Trainline platform leads the market for a reason: their technology and UX is simply some of the best in the business.

“It’s been really exciting to see how the integration of their systems can help us refine and optimise our rail inventory, improving efficiency for users at a time when rail travel is fast becoming the number one choice for business travel.”

Champa Magesh, president of Trainline Partner Solutions, added: “It’s fantastic to work with TapTrip as we’re aligned in putting the customer at the heart of the booking experience.

“They streamline the process of booking travel wherever possible and together we’re making rail easier and seamless, encouraging more businesses to return to travel through a more environmentally sustainable transport mode.”
