Vietnam Airlines picks Sabre solutions to support global growth

Carrier will leverage its network planning and optimisation technology

Vietnam Airlines has selected certain solutions by Sabre to fuels its global growth.

The flag carrier has ambitious growth plans with its eyes set on international expansion this year as it’s already added routes to the US, Germany, India, Italy, and the Philippines so far and is currently exploring new destinations across those markets continents as well as Canada and Australia.

It’s decided to implement Sabre’s network planning and optimisation technology to achieve its goals.

Fleet Manager will be used to match capacity and aircraft type with demand, the airline has chosen Profit Manager for forecast and network profitability, with Network Manager to achieve hub optimisation and enhanced codeshare planning, and Schedule Manager to deliver revenue-driven schedules across its network.

“As we prepare to expand our global network, having the right technology to guide smart, data-driven decisions is essential,” said Nguyen Quang Trung, director of corporate planning and development of Vietnam Airlines.

“Sabre’s Network Planning and Optimisation tools will help us pinpoint profitable routes, create optimised schedules, and stay agile in a dynamic environment – enabling us to deliver greater value for both our passengers and our business.”

Rakesh Narayanan, vice president, regional general manager, Asia Pacific, travel solutions airline sales at Sabre, added: “We’re excited to support Vietnam Airlines to enable their ambitious growth and operational success.

“This new agreement underscores the strength of Sabre’s technology in addressing the increasingly complex challenges faced by the world’s top airlines when it comes to creating optimum plans.”

The airline also already distributes its fares and offers through Sabre’s global travel marketplace so this agreement extends its current agreement in place.
