Kiwi.com and Dortmund Airport virtual interlining partnership goes live

Self-connecting itineraries will provide travellers more choice and better airport experience

Users of Dortmund airport are being offered a greater choice of transfer options after a virtual interlining partnership with kiwi.com went live this month.

The OTA and travel technology company creates virtual connections between carriers and other transport providers for travellers connecting through airports that are not traditional hubs.

The partnership with Dortmund is seeing the airport providing a Smart Pass transfer service for passengers who book on kiwi.com and transfer at the airport.

The online booking platform is offering passengers a guarantee for the selected connection and passengers can use the fast lane at Dortmund Airport.

Kiwi.com said this reduces the required transfer time and increases the number of possible connections.

Patrick Zeuner, head of airport partnerships, said: “We’re glad to see that more and more airports, including Dortmund Airport, recognise the increasing number of travellers that prefer self-connecting itineraries as they bring them more choice.

“Our Smart Pass service helps those travellers by providing an efficient connection service and helps the airports to get back to pre-pandemic numbers through growth in passenger traffic.”

Guido Miletic, general manager airport-services, marketing & sales at Dortmund airport, added: “The main advantage for our passengers is that Kiwi.com combines different airlines into one itinerary, through Dortmund, and it can be booked in just one step.

“Then at Dortmund Airport the passengers can profit from effective connections and short distances. That works nicely together.”
