Publisher says US gamer audience numbers over 164 million people in the US
Rough Guides produces guidebook to Xbox’s virtual gamer worlds
Rough Guides has produced a book to guide people around some of the worlds in popular Xbox games.
The iconic British travel guides publisher said the Rough Guide to Xbox will help it reach a different audience in gamers, a group of reportedly over 164 million people in the US alone.
The publication details the things users can see and do, as if the virtual locations actually exist in games produced for the popular Microsoft-owned gaming console.
The book aims to show players the highlights of the eight Xbox One titles: Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Anthem, Halo 5: Guardians, Metro Exodus and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Neil McQuillian, author of the Rough Guide to Xbox, said: “Rough Guides has always been a reflection of the way people travel.
“In-game travel and photography has become such a phenomenon that they had to make a guide to it. People take in-game photographs and videos of scenery so often now, it’s clear that people really do feel like they are visiting these worlds.”
