Luxury operator Black Tomato launches augmented intelligence platform
Luxury travel operator Black Tomato has unveiled The Pursuit of Feeling (PoF), a new platform that focuses on the powerful emotions that travel evokes.
As the company celebrates its 20th anniversary, the firm has launched this new offering where travellers can describe, in their own words, how they want to feel.
At its core, The Pursuit of Feeling has travellers approach planning their travel through an emotional lens, exploring five key emotional pillars, to feel including Revitalised, Freedom, Distraction, Challenged, and Contentment.
These pillars were chosen to provide a broad spectrum of emotions that reflect the diversity of human experience during travel.
To bring this vision to life, the platform launches with four key elements: The Feelings Engine, 100 curated experiences, emotion-driven itineraries, and The Pursuit of Feeling Podcast.
Utilising proprietary augmented intelligence, The Feelings Engine analyses these desires and draws on Black Tomato’s database of researched, curated experiences and information to deliver tailored recommendations that reflect the traveller’s needs.
Unlike traditional AI, this uses augmented intelligence, a mixture of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based AI technology that taps into the operator’s expertise.
Tom Marchant, co-Founder of Black Tomato, said: “It’s a long-held insight from our clients that they may not know where they want to go but always know how they want to feel. The Feelings Engine is a natural extension of this philosophy, creating an emotionally-focused approach to travel planning that combines the best of human expertise and insight with leading technology.”
