International expansion eyed as Traveltek appoints cruise director
Technology provider Traveltek’s has announced that Peter Whittle has been promoted to spearhead the firm’s interests in the cruise sector in the UK and expansion overseas.
The move comes after the firm’s recent decision to create two separate sales divisions, one for cruise and one for agency sales.
Whittle has been promoted to business development director to head up all aspects of Traveltek’s cruise business including product development, distribution and sales. Frank Docherty continues his role as Traveltek’s sales director.
Kenny Picken, Traveltek managing director, said: “We have recognised the opportunities in cruise across the UK and in international markets .
“We have recently landed significant orders from two of the largest cruise operators taking their products to new markets and exploring new opportunities with them in North America, Asia Pacific and beyond, which will allow us to open offices in these locations.
“In addition to this we have also introduced a three tier cruise offering starting with iCruise, at just £75 per month, an intermediate product and, of course, our dynamic packaging product Cruise All Inclusive. We have really opened up the cruise market to empower smaller agents to get on board.”
Whittle said: “We’ve introduced new contracts which allow our customers the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade their cruise offering depending on market conditions and affordability, protecting agents’ cash flows, which is all important in these difficult times.
“Recent experiences have shown us we can take what we have in the UK and make it work for us in international markets”
