Customers requesting cover for trips to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and US
UAE travel insurance company reports 182% rise in enquiries
According to Middle East insurance marketplace Policybazaar.ae, the number of customer enquiries for travel insurance in 2024 has surged 182% compared to last year.
The data shows the uptick is primarily fuelled by travellers aged between 25 and 40, who are responsible for 85% of the enquiries, and the family travellers segment has emerged as the largest share of the market, accounting for 60%.
Policybazaar.ae also revealed that the top four travel destinations either enquired about or travelled to UAE residents in 2024 so far have been the US, and Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, cementing the rising popularity among UAE travellers of The Caucasus region.
Enquiries related to trips that were of an average minimum duration of nine days.
The trends seen may be attributed to the UAE's extreme summer temperatures and the onset of summer holidays, prompting many to seek cooler destinations for their summer breaks.
Another notable trend observed is the rise in remote working, particularly among individuals below the age of 40.
As more people blend work and leisure, the demand for comprehensive travel insurance is rising. This trend is further supported by the increase in leisure travel, which amplifies the need for travel insurance to safeguard against unforeseen events that could disrupt travel plans.
Neeraj Gupta, CEO of Policybazaar.ae, said: "The rise in travel insurance enquiries reflects a dynamic shift in behaviour and an evolving mindset of travellers who now prioritise safety, preparedness, and the desire for seamless travel experiences."
