Senior changes made by online holiday company
New technology chief named in Thomas Cook management reshuffle
A reorganised management team at online firm Thomas Cook has been put in place following the departure of chief technology officer Peter Yip.
Marc Molenwijk has been named as new CTO alongside an expanded role for chief digital officer Jo Migom.
Molenwijk combines the role of chief architect and CTO and previously ran his own IT business in the Netherlands.
He has been instrumental in leading much of the new digital platform to date including innovations that have enabled faster and more complex searches for customers but with lower technology costs.
Molenwijk said: “I’ve been working alongside the team developing the new platform while running my own business. Now, in this new role, I am able to devote myself entirely to the expansion and development of our digital capabilities and how we source, compare and present the best-value holiday packages to our customers online.”
Yip was with the business since it was founded in December 2019 and then launched in September 2020.
Migom, a founder member of the management team, will see her role expanded to include responsibility for in-house and out-sourced customer service teams.
She continues to oversee its Europe business in addition to her role managing the company’s overall digital product teams.
Migom is one of five female members of the European management team, making it a majority female-led business.
Chief executive Alan French said: “Bringing in Marc’s hands-on developer expertise and his experience starting, running and ultimately selling a business adds significant strength to our existing management team.
“Jo’s been a colleague of mine now for nearly 10 years and her broad-range of travel industry knowledge especially in digital roles made her the natural choice to take over responsibility for our customer service teams.
“Pete’s been an instrumental team member since we started this new business and I want to thank him for supporting and guiding his teams over the past four years.”
Migom added: “Now four years in to founding and running this new Thomas Cook, we continue to expand our range of holidays and grow our customer base.
“This year we are investing significantly in our sales and service teams and I am looking forward to supporting that development while continuing to improve our website based on customer feedback.”
