He will strengthen the Travel, Hospitality & Leisure Practice

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has announced the continued expansion of its EMEA Travel, Hospitality & Leisure Practice with the appointment of Martin Rinck as managing director.

Rinck brings over 35 years of leadership experience in strategy, operations, business development, P&L management, and brand management across some of the world’s most prominent hospitality companies.

His experience spans the entire ecosystem of a business, from performance and product transformations to leading two successful IPOs, so he will be able to provide a holistic perspective that will strengthen A&M’s growing and dynamic team across EMEA.

He served for nearly 13 years on the Executive Committee at Hilton in roles including EVP & chief brand officer at Hilton, where he led the portfolio strategy for 18 brands across 6,500+ hotels globally, drove key ESG initiatives and oversaw crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his tenure he also served as EVP, Global Head Luxury & Lifestyle Group as well as President for Hilton in Asia Pacific, where he grew the company’s portfolio from 90 to over 600 properties, launched six new brands and supported the increase in top-line revenue by over $2 billion.

He serves as a Board Member of the Room to Read Swiss Chapter, in addition to serving on the Board of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) and the International Advisory Board of EHL in Lausanne.

Ed Bignold, managing director and head of A&M’s Travel, Hospitality & Leisure (“THL”) Practice, said: “We are delighted to welcome Martin to the team. Martin’s hands-on experience as an executive leader in several of the hospitality sectors most impressive companies, alongside his expertise on commercial, brand, operations and development make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team.

"Martin’s experience uniquely positions him to support our clients with a range of challenges. Jorge, as co-head of our THL Practice, and I are equally excited to see him inspire the next generation of leaders within A&M.”

Rinck added: “We are currently experiencing an unprecedented new chapter in the world of travel that presents unique opportunities and challenges across the globe.

"While enthusiasm around travel continues to increase, consumer expectations are shifting at a rapid pace against the backdrop of ongoing market volatility and ever-changing global dynamics.

"The rise of lifestyle hospitality, the development of truly unique hotels, and innovation in the sector – creating those everlasting memorable experiences – becomes critical to staying relevant and something I have been passionate about throughout my entire career."
