Low cost flight and accommodation provider Jet2holidays.com believes the new battleground among package tour companies will be fought in the customised, cheap and cheerful holiday market.

Taking a direct swipe at established package brands, Jet2holidays.com general manager Mandy Round says, “Today’s consumers do not want to be told what day they go on holiday, or be forced to take 7 or 14-day breaks.  They want flexible durations, departing on days they want and flying from their local airport.”

As part of its strategy to win consumer and agent loyalty, the company is marketing itself as a better alternative to the MyTravel brand, and has launched a range of winter sun package deals for travel agents from £9 per day.

“Following the announcement of My Travel’s closure in the north, Jet2holidays.com is offering a rapidly-growing alternative to agents, as it will be the biggest holiday tour operator in the North of England,” the company says.

Round adds: “It has never been possible to offer these kinds of holidays without it being tied to a promotional offer – our holidays offer permanently low deals.  Our business model does away with needless overheads and prices that were fixed months ago in brochures.”
