After three years as UK managing director of online travel portal Lastminute.com, Mark Jones is stepping down “to pursue a new career”,  according to a statement issued by the company yesterday.

Jones’ departure follows Lastminute’s announcement last month that it would be realigning its business. Under the new structure, Lastminute will be divided into two distinctive divisions: a pan-European business-to-consumer and business-to-business division.

Along with CEO Ian McCaig, Jones worked on transitioning the business and implementing a new leadership structure.

Jones joined lastminute.com in 2004 when it purchased OTC (Online Travel Corporation). During this period he managed both the UK market and led the group’s business-to-business operations. Last September, Travolution readers voted Jones as one of the top 10 most influential people in the online travel industry.
