Cheapflights is stepping up its plans for global expansion with the appointment of ex-Ask.com product manager Brian Fitzgerald to the newly created position global analytics manager.

Fitzgerald will be responsible for building a tracking and reporting platform for the price comparison site ahead of launches into new markets.

Cheapflights created a standalone website for Canadian users earlier this year and is expected to launch in Germany by the end of 2007.

As well as product manager for search reporting at IAC Search and Media, the forerunner of Ask.com, Fitzgerald previously worked at Marconi Applied Technologies as technical computing manager.

Cheapflights’ group managing director Chris Cuddy said: “We now plan further international expansion, where the provision and analysis of data from many metrics will be essential in meeting the multi-national challenges ahead.

“We have always been fortunate in attracting incredible talent to all our departments and this has been an undoubted factor in our continuing success.”
