Cheapflights vice chairman Hugo Burge has pushed a personal web project, targeting travellers who want to share their experiences, into beta this week.

The development of Hereorthere.com has been “a hobby” for the past year, Burge said, created away from his responsibilities at Cheapflights.

The site allows users to create personal profiles and share “experiences” and photographs, and rate the entries from other users.

A Yahoo! Maps mash-up has also been used to plot content and the location of members around the world.

Burge insisted the site is not a copy of WAYN.com – which is backed by Burge and Cheapflights chief executive David Soskin, among others.

“WAYN.com is more of a MySpace for travel, allowing users to meet people and sharing their travel plans,” Burge said.

“Hereorthere has parallels with YouTube so that people can share and publish their experiences.”

Burge said there are currently no plans for a marketing campaign for the site, hoping growth will come through word-of-mouth and “people enjoying using it”.
