HotelTonight expands with four more international office openings

Mobile-only hotel booking app HotelTonight is opening new offices in Berlin, Paris, Sydney and Toronto by the end of the year to further accelerate its international growth.

Oliver Jung, responsible for launching and leading the international expansion of Houzz and Airbnb, has been recruited with a team of executives to oversee the international operations.

He said: “I’m excited to work with HotelTonight. It is an international business by nature with great potential to become a truly global company.

“HotelTonight was the first to recognise the enormous business opportunity presented by mobile hotel bookings and I am excited to work with a company that is 100% focused on the mobile market.”

The expansion plans follow the company’s latest product release, which enables customers to book rooms up to seven days in advance.

HotelTonight recently marked the second anniversary of its first international office in London and has quickly expanded to 28 countries.

The app is claimed to have seen a 554% year-on-year growth in European bookings and has more than 2.5 million European downloads.

The company has raised more than $80 million in funding since being established in January 2011.

Co-founder and chief operating officer Jared Simon said: “The extraordinary growth we’ve seen since we launched internationally two years ago is a testament to the rest of the world’s appetite to live life less planned, as well as to the enormous dedication of the small but talented team we’ve had in place internationally.

“With that foundation, we’re extremely excited about the international opportunity now that we’re adding so much more fuel to the fire.”
