Luxury travel flash sales website Secret Escapes is running a week-long series of charity auctions on eBay.co.uk.

The auctions give shoppers the chance to bid on exclusive hotel and holiday packages in the UK and abroad, starting from 1p.

The charity auction, which aims to raise money for the wildlife conservation organisation WWF, kicked off on Sunday with Secret Escapes taking over the eBay.co.uk homepage.

The campaign will also include a seven-day auction for an overnight lodge experience at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in Kent and four 3-day auctions for luxury hotel stays ranging from one night at 5-star hotel, The Lowry in Manchester to a 7-night package holiday to Egypt.

Secret Escapes is also giving away a trip to the Sahara Palace in Morocco as a prize for the user who creates the best ‘Secret Escapes Collection’ using eBay’s Collection tool.

Phuong Nguyen, director of eBay advertising UK said: “With over 19 million purchase-ready active users in the UK, eBay is a great online destination for travel brands looking to feature alongside categories such as fashion and electronics as an additional attraction for consumers to spend.

“With almost a decade’s experience in charity and a record year of fundraising in 2013, we’re also delighted to be making use of our charity expertise in this innovative campaign.”

Secret Escapes co-founder Troy Collins said: “We were looking for an exciting way to support a great cause with a big bang – we think this campaign with eBay ticks all the boxes.”
