The company now offers accommodation in 201 countries and 61,702 destinations.

Chief operating officer Gillian Tans said: “Reaching this significant milestone demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with a diverse range of accommodation wherever in the world they want to stay.

“Travellers from the UK and around the world are seeking out local, authentic experiences. By providing them with a variety of accommodation types – ranging from the traditional to the more unexpected – we’re granting them the freedom and flexibility to do just that.”

She added: “There are few cities in the world as fun and welcoming as Berlin. The addition of the Leonardo Hotel to the Booking.com family takes us another step towards growing a diverse and authentic accommodation offering that includes some of the world’s must-visit cities.”
