AllTheRooms adds Groupon deals in bid to become ‘Google of accommodations’

Metasearch engine AllTheRooms – which claims to be the world’s largest accommodation search engine – has added popular local commerce site Groupon.

Metasearch engine AllTheRooms – which claims to be the world’s largest accommodation search engine – has added popular local commerce site Groupon.

It means Groupon’s discounted travel deals will now appear on the site, which also features the likes of Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, airbnb and hotwire.

Joseph DiTomaso, co-founder and chief executive of AllTheRooms, said: “The idea behind AllTheRooms was to offer every available type of accommodation in every destination worldwide, and with Groupon on board we are giving our users that many more options.

“Adding Groupon to our inventory was inevitable to be truly comprehensive and give the best value to the consumer.”Integrating Groupon means that the global inventory of AllTheRooms now boasts more than 3.1 million places.

DiTomaso added: “We will never stop adding providers to AllTheRooms. Our goal is to make it a one-stop shop for any type of traveller, from the business man looking for a hotel near a conference to a backpacker exploring his way through Europe.

“With our search capabilities to choose from location, price, type of lodging, and discounts, we feel we are the ‘Google of Accommodations’.”

New York based start-up AllTheRooms announced in May that it had raised $1.1 million in seed funding.

The firm was founded by DiTomaso, a former investment banker, and Bill Beckler, who most recently was head of innovation at Travelocity-owned Lastminute.com.
