Vamoos itinerary app sees Android release

Holiday app Vamoos, which launched through the trade in the summer, is being made available to Android users.

More than 1,000 tour operator clients have used the app during a trial period to view itineraries, according to Tony Bean, director of Appex Mobile and the man behind the invention.

“We were very excited about the launch of Vamoos but with any product, the test, the proof of the pudding is what the customer thinks,” he said.

“We have therefore been astonished that with just a few months since the product’s cold launch 40 companies have started a trial and more than 10 have signed up to subscribe.

“End-user response has been equally exciting with the average traveller accessing Vamoos between 5 and 10 times and for 4-5 minutes at each visit. This means that in total there have been more than 45,000 ‘views’ in the weeks since the launch.”

Robin Ball, director of Bamboo Travel – one of the first tour operators to subscribe to Vamoos said: “We are always looking at ways in which we can enhance our clients’ ‘Bamboo’ experience and Vamoos is perfect for this.

“They see it as free added value and find it really useful to keep their entire travel documentation in one place on their phone or tablet.

“But it the fact that it can be used offline that we found most appealing, avoiding huge overseas roaming charges, and customer feedback has been great.”

The cost of Vamoos will average around £1 per passenger per year for operators and agents that sign up, the company claims.
