Pegasus Solutions has struck a landmark deal with Mobile Travel Technologies to provide a mobile handset reservation system for 78,000 hotels around the world.

The partnership will begin with Utell customers in June and continue rolling out across the Pegasus network in the coming months.

The Mobile Reservation Services platform will connect with “virtually any mobile device”, the companies said this week, allowing guests to make reservations, look for hotel information and review their booking itinerary.

Users will be able to use existing phone technology or PDS mobile internet browsers to access the service.

Pegasus chief operating officer Mike Kistner said: “Online booking and customer service are now standard for hotels, and this is why Pegasus has been dedicated to paving the way to the next frontier – mobile solutions.”

A pilot for the technology led to conversation rates for hotel promotions of more than 10%, Kistner said.

Gerry Samuels, executive director and founder of MTT, said: “In our initial implementations of Pegasus-connected mobile services, we have found the service was easily accepted by customers.

“This fast adoption of the mobile Internet is great news for hotels looking for a new, simple and reliable service that fits with their integrated multi-channel marketing strategy.”
