Travel Counsellors founder and chairman, David Speakman, is to discuss how agents can survive against the threat of the internet in today’s industry.

He will be hosting a special seminar session at World Travel Market on 5 November.

Delegates will hear first-hand from Speakman, who will discuss how technology has changed since Travel Counsellors was founded 20 years ago, with the rise of the digital age and the threat of OTAs to traditional travel agencies.

The session will also focus on the importance of trust and personalisation when selling travel, and how he claims this will enable agents to flourish against the transactional online model.

Speakman will highlight the many pitfalls of researching and booking travel online, and how agents can utilise these to their advantage.

The session will include a Q&A session.

Speakman said: “In today’s industry it’s essential that agents adapt and relate to the changes and advancements in technology and the internet.

“Our business is based on trust and relationships, something an online booking tool simply can’t replicate. I look forward to sharing my own insights and experiences with others, highlighting how it is possible to not only compete, but also flourish in what many perceive as an internet dominated age.”
