Yannick Roux (pictured) has joined the media and technology group as head of corporate development from Forward Internet Group, an investment vehicle for web firms.

Momondo – formerly Cheapflights Media – said Roux will drive overseas growth, looking at potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

Hugo Burge, chief executive of Momondo Group, said: “We are very pleased that Yannick has joined Momondo Group at such an exciting time.

“He brings a wealth of technology business experience combined with great experience in helping companies to accelerate growth.

“Our recent Q1 results demonstrated the impressive momentum that we have taken into 2014, and, as we continue to grow and position ourselves as a leader in meta search, we are confident that Yannick brings the right skills to help us achieve that goal.”

Roux added: “I am excited to join a great company at the right time, led by an ambitious management team.

“The product set is second to none and the strong user-centric approach to design as well as functionality will help to keep Momondo at the forefront of the travelling customer’s mind.

“With the hyper-fast growth of meta and mobile, this is an exciting time for the online travel industry and I look forward to helping Momondo Group continue on its impressive growth trajectory.”

During his time at Forward Internet Group, Roux was involved in the acquisitions of Top10 Media and Factory Media.

He also worked on the subsequent sale of uSwitch and Invisible Hand Software, as well as playing a key role in building up Forward’s early stage investment portfolio, which included companies such as Hailo, Zopa, Top10.com, Blikbook, Unbound, Hubbub, Appear Here, Wool and the Gang and Somo Global.

Prior to Forward, Yannick started a daily deal business, after spending two years in investment banking at Macquarie Capital, covering M&A in the transport sector.
