UK holiday rentals specialist Holidaycottages.co.uk has updated its mobile app after seeing traffic from handheld devices soar.

The independent lettings agent says it has seen an 82% increase in mobile web traffic so far this year compared to the same period in 2013.

The updates ‘Cottages’ app has been improved to be faster and more informative for people searching for their next cottage holiday.

As well as reflecting a recent rebrand the app has had information on nearby attractions and activities added along with directions.

Other new features include:

• A last-minute breaks section;
• A dedicated customer account login with booking information allowing users to see recent and saved searches;
• A function to add bookings to users’ calendars and get directions to booked properties;
• Bespoke notifications for special offers and last-minute breaks.
