Agents working for STA Travel can now sell insurance packages to customers as part of their overall holiday booking.
Dolphin Dynamics, which powers the booking engine for the youth travel company, has developed technology to integrate the new product category into the agents’ point of sale.
Allianz Global Assistance will be the first company to make its products available for STA Travel agents to search and book.
Dolphin Dynamics said the connection to the insurance company had been developed specifically for STA Travel to provide it with a more streamlined process for selling insurance.
The insurance can be bought within the same booking journey as flights, accommodation, car-rental and other travel products.
Roberto Da Re, chief executive of Dolphin Dynamics, said: “Travel companies can earn healthy margins from selling insurance, but sometimes the commercial opportunity is reduced by the time it takes to find and book suitable insurance products and then manage them via a back office system.
“By working with Allianz Global Assistance to introduce this live connectivity, Dolphin now offers our joint customers the same workflow efficiencies when selling insurance that they already enjoy when selling other travel products from Dolphin”.

Dolphin Dynamics said the enhanced technology meant more insurance providers could be implemented in the future.
