Lowcostbeds.com has taken what is says is a major step forward in its drive to become the leading online tour operator by adding scheduled flights to its dynamic packaging system.

The company said fares from around 80 scheduled carriers will be added to site shortly.

Lowcostbeds currently carries flights from 30 charter and low-cost carrier airlines supplying its flight-only and flight+hotel products.

The addition of scheduled flights is likely to push the company’s trade-consumer split further in favour of direct selling to users via the web.

It is believed around 50% of sales are currently made via the trade.

The development comes during a busy period for the company following its decision, reported last week, to suspend plans for floatation on the London Stock Exchange.

Chief executive Paul Evans said: “This is a landmark moment in the advancement of holiday booking as never before has an online travel company offered the combination of chartered, low-cost and scheduled flights with such a full range of accommodation offers.

“We are very confident that this is going to have a huge effect in driving traffic to the website as dynamic packagers visit Lowcostbeds.com for more flexibility and value for money.”
