A campaign designed to find a new 2014 blogger for TrekAmerica has been unveiled.

The #Blog4Trek competition for new and existing bloggers forms part of the operator’s 2014 communications strategy.

This has been revamped to include blogger engagement and social media activity as a part of a broader PR approach.

The competition winner will also travel on a tour up the Pacific Coast, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park.

Entrants will be asked to demonstrate their creative flair through writing and photography and encouraged to share their work through social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+.

TrekAmerica has also appointed three established bloggers to take part in the campaign and act as competition panel members.

Monica Stott from The Travel Hack, Victoria Magrath from In the Frow and Rosie Tapping from A Rosie Outlook will help in the selection process, while offering advice on how to start a successful blog and sharing hints and tips gained from their own experiences.

Senior marketing manager Hayley Griffiths said: “We are really excited to be launching our #Blog4Trek competition and hope that this is just the start of a long-standing relationship with the blogosphere.

“We really value the contribution that blogs and bloggers make to a brand’s story and wanted to evolve our own approach to blogging at TrekAmerica. The competition marks the start of this evolution.

“There are some amazing, influential bloggers out there and we wanted to celebrate that through the appointment of our panel.”

She added: “Social media is a huge part of our strategy and is already used regularly at TrekAmerica to communicate with customers.

“The power of channels such as Twitter and Instagram is phenomenal. We wanted to embrace these platforms in the competition and are interested to see how they are used in the entries.”

The competition is open until March 9.
