Going Places’ reunion event attracts 4,000 Facebook fans

A reunion weekend for former Going Places staff is being held at Butlins Skegness in June.

A reunion weekend for former Going Places staff is being held at Butlins Skegness in June.

A Facebook group set up in October by Mandy Allen, former manager of Going Places in Peterborough, has already attracted more than 4,000 members.

Allen, who now runs a business development consultancy, said: “Former colleagues who had lost touch have been reconnecting and sharing stories and photos. The buzz has been just incredible.

“We have people travelling from as far as Scotland, Cornwall, Wales and Northern Ireland.”

Former directors including Peter Shanks and Tony Bennett are among those to have joined the group.

The event on June 20-23 will include a ?GP Reunion Party, a fun day with travel fair and team games, a GP Midsummer Night Party and a summer beach party with DJ and disco.

Those who attend will also have access ?to events being held for Butlins’ Hot ?Summer Party adult-only weekend, which coincides with the reunion.

The price leads in at £129 based on two sharing for three nights.

Thomas Cook merged with Going Places owner MyTravel in 2007.
