Specialist travel digital marketing agency umi Digital has opened a second UK office in Manchester’s Salford Media City.

Specialist travel digital marketing agency umi Digital has opened a second UK office in Manchester’s Salford Media City.

The firm says the new facility will enable it to offer young people work experience in design, marketing and digital development roles.

The new office is located in The Landing and has been set up in conjunction with the University of Salford.

Umi Digital already hosts students in internship positions from many academic institutions including the University of Salford, and has won awards for its efforts including the Silver ‘Best Support Service’ Award at the 2013 British Youth Travel Awards.

Chief executive Steve Lowy said the new office will help him give back to the university that he credits with giving him the inspiration to start his own business.

He said: “I believe that a second office in Salford positions umi Digital in the creative hub of not only the northwest but soon to be Europe.

“Our location will allow us to work with talented and creative young people but also support the growing tourism industry in the north of England.

“We are keen to export great British design internationally and having hubs in two recognised UK creative hubs (London and Salford) will give us a great platform to do this”.

Professor Amanda Broderick, pro-vice chancellor and dean of Salford Business School, said: “The University of Salford’s internationally-recognised thought-leadership in digital technologies is increasingly attracting creative, media and digital companies to Salford.

“I am particularly delighted that we are able to welcome Steve Lowy and umi to Salford Quays and Media City.

“Steve, a graduate of Salford Business School, is a visionary business leader who personally invests so much in the next generation of talent.

“He ably demonstrates the mutual value of businesses working in partnership with the University and our joint success in developing the intellectual capital of the future.”
