Skyscanner appoints former Sixt director to manage Americas expansion

A former Saudi Arabian Airlines and Sixt director is to lead Skyscanner’s expansion in the US, Canada and South America.

A former Saudi Arabian Airlines and Sixt director is to lead Skyscanner’s expansion in the US, Canada and South America.

Alex Rahe has joined the travels search site’s new Miami office as general manager for the Americas.

He will manage expansion into North and South America, as well as drive the company´s strategy and development in the region.

Rahe joins from the Global Business Travel Association Foundation where he was business development director.

He has more than 20 years of senior commercial experience, including running sales and marketing operations in the Americas for Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sixt, Star Alliance and Lufthansa.

Skyscanner co-founder and chief executive Gareth Williams said: “In the last year, we’ve seen a 65% growth in visits to our site from across the Americas and Alex brings a wealth of experience and expertise in establishing travel companies in these markets.

“He will play a key role in driving our growth forward in the Americas as we seek to become the world´s most trusted online travel search site.”
