Multicom gains data security compliance confirmation

Multicom has been confirmed as a PCI Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliant service provider.

Multicom has been confirmed as a PCI Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliant service provider.

The company is believed to be the first travel technology provider in the UK to achieve the demanding requirements for compliance assessment.

This means its payment card data and booking systems are secure and trustworthy.

By achieving the PCI DSS standard, Multicom customers can be confident that all bookings processed through FindandBook or WebVoyage or paid for via MultiCommerce are compliant.

The PCI DSS compliance ensures cardholder data is kept to a secure standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other protective measures.

Businesses who fail to achieve compliance of either their own systems or those of suppliers face fines and additional charges being levied by their acquiring banks.

Multicom managing director John Howell said: “Achieving compliance in a timely fashion has meant a lot of hard work to ensure all of our systems and products meet the demanding standards of the PCI.

“However, we believe it is a valuable investment to ensure FindandBook, WebVoyage and MultiCommerce customers can have the confidence and peace of mind that they are using products that are compliant. It removes a large headache for them.

“Travel businesses who are using technology that has not yet met the standard required are running a real risk of financial penalties that will undermine their commercial proposition.”
