Rio flight searches soar after World Cup qualification

Flight searches to Rio de Janeiro saw a 242% spike in the wake of England qualifying for the 2014 World Cup finals.

The rise in interest in flying to Brazil over the previous week was reported by following the 2-0 defeat of Poland.

The OTA’s marketing manager Jessica Craker said: “It’s very exciting that England are through to the World Cup in Brazil after a fantastic win over Poland.

“The rise in searches for flights to Rio de Janeiro proves that England fans are eager to make travel plans to watch England first-hand in Brazil next year.”
