American Express card holders are being given the opportunity to connect with their TripAdvisor profiles to post reviews, access exclusive hotspot lists and get special merchant offers.

The integration applies to Amex members in the UK, US and Australia.

Users of the travel reviews site will see an “Amex Traveller” badge after a card member connects with TripAdvisor at tripadvisor.co.uk/Amex.

Users will also see a card icon and “Amex Card Member Review” next to reviews on TripAdvisor when a member has made a transaction with their connected card and written a review for that place.

When a connected member leaves their first review, they will get a one-time Amex statement credit for £5 in the UK and $5 in the US and Australia.

The integration also makes use of the American Express Spend Graph – an aggregate, anonymous mapping of card member spending and location data that shows trends in dining, travel and entertainment.

Participating card members on TripAdvisor will gain exclusive access to lists of hotspots in popular travel destinations powered by Spend Graph data. They will also receive relevant offers from merchants around the world.

Amex digital partners and development senior vice president Leslie Berland said: “Card members are active and passionate travellers and diners, and their experiences and reviews are well-informed and powerful.

“This partnership with TripAdvisor represents the intersection of technology, data, community and commerce to add relevant context to our card members’ reviews.”
