Gisbert takes on expanded role at Lowcost Travel Group

Lowcost Travel Group has given Alex Gisbert the expanded role of group chief marketing officer.

Lowcost Travel Group has given Alex Gisbert the expanded role of group chief marketing officer.

Gisbert was recruited from Expedia in July 2010 to drive the group’s overseas expansion as managing director (international business).

As part of the new role he will continue to run sales and marketing for the group from Mallorca, Spain.

In 2009 Travolution picked out Gisbert as one to watch when he was named Rising Star of the Year in the Travolution Awards.

Gisbert said: “I’m delighted to expand my remit to now manage the businesses of LCTG globally.

“We now operate in 45 countries for Lowcost Beds and 12 countries for Lowcost Holidays. It made sense to drive the business from the multi-market framework we have built in Switzerland and Palma.”

“Moving a UK business to a global business is a tough challenge, but having launched over 30 countries for the group this year the reality is that the team is getting up to speed quickly on the challenges of executing outside the UK.

“The early successes we have seen in Brazil, Middle East, Eastern Europe and our German tour operator, plus the strengthening of our Nordics businesses, is evidence that we have embraced the concept of being a global, not just UK, travel business.”
