The Travelport Universal API is being launched to app developers in Asia.

The move means that application programming interface is now available in more than 90 countries.

The company claims the API is the first that aggregates content from the GDS (air, car and hotel), accommodation providers, low-cost carriers, high speed rail suppliers, merchandising and ancillary services through a single connection.

It enables developers to gain access to multiple content sources by writing code for only one solution, cutting the time required to launch new travel applications.

The API is available to developers and companies that want to build or expand their commercial business from creating next generation travel applications and tools.

Travelport Asia Pacific vice president and regional managing director Patrick Andres said: “We are delighted to launch the Travelport Universal API in Asia as developers in this region see the value in this unique technology which helps them develop innovative new travel apps quickly and efficiently.”
