Travel search firm Skyscanner plans to double its workforce to 500 over the next year to support global expansion plans.

Travel search firm Skyscanner plans to double its workforce to 500 over the next year to support global expansion plans.

The company currently employs 250 staff across four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Singapore and Beijing, with a fifth opening in Miami this year.

More than 150 of the new jobs will be in Scotland.

The roles will be created across the company’s operations including in engineering, IT, sales and marketing.

Skyscanner has expanded its offices to cope with a rise in demand for its services.

Chief operating officer Mark Logan told the BBC: “Our growth over the past year has exceeded even our own ambitious targets thanks to a talented international team.

“Over 20 million people around the world are now using Skyscanner to find their flights, car hire and hotels each month, and our app has been downloaded over 25 million times.

“We’re delighted to be announcing the creation of a significant number of new jobs to enable us to continue to deliver the best travel search site to our users, wherever they are around the world.”
