Kuoni will next month unveil ground-breaking technology that will enable customers to book multi-destination, round-the-world itineraries on its website.

The long-haul operator declined to reveal full details but confirmed the system will add a “dynamic” new dimension to its online offering – already considered one of the best on the market.

Senior manager for e-business Matt Rooke said: “Our website currently offers about 80% of our brochure product but most of our business is tailor-made. The developments we are working on will allow customers to be far more flexible online.”

The new-look site will feature a hugely expanded product range and enable customers to research detailed itineraries more thoroughly.

“It will make the sales process far quicker and easier for customers who choose to book through the call centre,” said Rooke.

Meanwhile, the amount of business produced by high-street agents through the website is continuing to soar with sales up 75% year on year.

“Around two years ago, 90% of our online sales came direct from customers,” said Rooke. “It is now 50% through the trade and it won’t be long before agent bookings overtake direct business.”
