Travolution Awards 2013 – the shortlist is announced

The firms shortlisted for this year’s Travolution Awards have been announced following a record number of entries this year.

The firms shortlisted for this year’s Travolution Awards have been announced following a record number of entries this year.

The awards, now in their seventh year, received 240 individual entries in 24 categories covering digital marketing, trade, consumer-facing and supplier websites and technology providers.

Overall entry numbers for the awards, the biggest night in the UK online travel sector calendar, were up 38% on last year

This year deals publisher Icelolly.com has been confirmed as the headline sponsor and a separate set of consumer-voted gongs will be handed out as part of that agreement.

Lee Hayhurst, Travolution editor, said: “We’ve been somewhat inundated with entries this year, particularly in some categories.

“This shows just how travel firms and the digital agencies they use value getting their work in the online space recognised.

“There have been some very strong entries this year which just goes to demonstrate how excelling online is not only becoming more vital for travel firms, but that to do so requires ever more sophisticated and intelligent solutions.

“The Travolution Awards are without doubt a watchword in the travel industry for our strapline: ‘Smarter Digital Travel’.”

The winning entries are selected by panels of senior judges drawn from the travel industry.

The winner of the 2013 Travel Brand of the Year and the individual chosen as the Pioneer of the Year will be announced at the ceremony in October.

This year’s ceremony will take place at the same venue as last year, The Troxy, a former Art Deco cinema in east London, on Thursday October 17.

Last year saw more than 400 guests gather to hear who had won the coveted awards handed out by guest presenter, comedian Marcus Brigstocke.
