TravelSupermarket has launched a new interactive map which is built up of images from across the globe.

The idea behind the World Photography Map came from images submitted to the Capture the Colour photography competition which saw travel bloggers submit their interpretations of the colours blue, yellow, green, red and white.

The competition attracted 587 entries and each blogger submitted five photos.

TravelSupermarket said the map offers an insight into the entrants’ most popular travel photography locations.

Visitors to the site can click on continents on the map to see photo galleries from that part of the world.

The competition entries showed Asia and Europe as the most popular destination for travel photographers – with 32% of pictures being taken in Asia and 26% in Europe.

Entries from further afield included snaps of Russia, the African coasts and polar continents.

South America was portrayed with a majority of white themed photos, while Asia was shown through red images featuring traditional dress.

The overall winner of the competition was Wes Nations, with Edith Levy and Anthon Jackson in second and third place respectively.
