Orbitz extends SilverRail online search and booking agreement

Corporate travel brand Orbitz for Business has extended an agreement to continue providing online rail search and booking facilities through online platform SilverRail Technologies.

Corporate travel brand Orbitz for Business has extended an agreement to continue providing online rail search and booking facilities through online platform SilverRail Technologies.

The multi-year agreement builds upon a technology partnership agreed in 2011 that enables users to plan and book rail travel through the Orbitz for Business interface.

Rail bookings represented 94% of all travel between New York and Philadelphia in 2012. Across all destinations in the northeast corridor of the US, rail offered an average saving of 37% over air travel in 2012, according to Orbitz for Business.

Product strategy and development vice president Marie Razza said: “Booking rail online is faster and provides a better customer experience than picking up the phone, with policy and reporting fully integrated into the process.

“Just as importantly, rail travel is a creative way to achieve tangible cost savings relative to overall business travel spend, so continuing our partnership with SilverRail was critical to offering the most complete business travel solution in the market today.”

Ami Taylor, senior director of account development at SilverRail Technologies, added: “Rail travel helps drive cost savings and improve traveller productivity, ultimately providing a more comfortable and convenient business travel experience.”
