A consumer-facing version of the Honeycomb dynamic packaging platform is to be developed for Travel Network Group members.

The travel agency consortium’s annual conference in Slovenia at the weekend was told this was a key IT project for 2013, following the official launch of the system in April last year.

Members will be able to overbrand the consumer version on their websites, either in full or for certain product, such as flights.

Four-hundred agent members are using Honeycomb and the system has just had new accommodation product and suppliers like Eurostar added. It aims to feature at least 50 suppliers by the end of this year, up from 20, and as many as 70 in total.

Bill Pickering, Worldchoice commercial director, said: “I’d like to get to the point where this is the market leader but I still see agents using other systems because they want more specialised product.”

In its current form, Honeycomb generates results based on price, but in the future Pickering said he would like to see more intelligent filtering around other factors to improve the relevancy of results.
