Travel agents are to be given incentives by European cruise operator, Costa Cruises, to encourage them to book holidays for customers via the web.

The new reward scheme will give agents ten points for every booking made on the Costaclik.co.uk website.

Extra points will be made awarded if an agent uses functions such as document tracking, retrieve booking, and check availability.

Agents will be able to redeem points at UK retailers such as Argos, HMV, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Debenhams and Boots.

The concerted effort to boost bookings via the web comes during what is expected to be a bumper year for cruise companies, despite increased levels of competition.

Most of the leading cruise outfits have stepped up their web presence in recent years as consumers have turned to the web to search and book cruise holidays.
