World Travel Market has recognised the growing importance of technology by giving it its own dedicated show.

Organisers say the concept has already received a huge amount of interest from potential exhibitors.

WTM said the size and success of the technology section within the show over the past five years prompted the move to run a parallel event.

Technology has been the fastest-growing area for WTM over that time – expanding by 70% from 2010 to 2012.

Hotel technology company Pegasus Solutions is to exhibit at The Travel Tech Show at WTM after a four-year absence from WTM.

Ariel Herr, vice-president, communications and marketing services, said: “We feel WTM is a great venue that gathers a very important market for us – which is Europe. We recognise WTM as an important event, and understand its value as a place to do business.”

Other exhibitors that have signed up include CodeGen, Illusions Online, Open Desinations, RateGain, TravelSim, Triometric, TrustYou, SiteMinder and Vertical Booking.

The first Travel Tech Show at WTM, will take place alongside as WTM at ExCeL London on November 4-7.

Last year, Travolution was WTM’s first global media partner for technology and will continue in that role in 2013 covering the expanded event.

The travel technology area at WTM in 2012 received more than 6,300 visitors, including a 65% increase in the number of buyers.

Reed Travel Exhibitions WTM director Simon Press said: “The first edition of The Travel Tech Show at WTM is poised to be a great success with a number of new exhibitors taking part.

“The continued growth of the travel technology region merited the launch of a new event within WTM, with its own dedicated resource. I am delighted with the response of the travel technology industry. Furthermore, we are delighted to be working with Travolution as our main media partner for The Travel Tech Show at WTM.”
