Travel search engine Sidestep will add a cruise search tool to its website this month in a bid to bolster its range of holiday options in an increasingly busy marketplace.

The inclusion of cruise holidays alongside flight, hotel and package deals will be included on the Sidestep platform both in the US and the UK & Ireland during January.

Sidestep has partnered US cruise travel agency CruisesOnly to supply fares and availability information.

Operators working with CruisesOnly include Carnival, Costa, MSC, Royal Caribbean and Silversea.

The global development for Sidestep follows the launch in the UK & Ireland of a dedicated site in September, boosted in December through a major deal with UK mobile phone operator Orange to power its online travel channel.

President and chief executive Rob Solomon said: ““With the incorporation of Cruise search into SideStep.com, SideStep becomes the first and only travel search engine to incorporate a full line of cruise options into the travel planning mix.”

However Yahoo!’s Kelkoo meta search engine includes a cruise tool in conjunction with TravelTradex. Travelsupermarket and Kayak do not currently offer cruise facilities.
