Sidestep has secured a major deal with Orange to power the mobile phone giant’s travel search facilities on its UK website.

The US-based travel search engine will allow users to search for flights and hotels from within the travel channel on Orange.co.uk.

The deal will initially run for two years and includes full access to Sidestep’s coverage of over 600 airlines, 150,000 hotels and 30,000 car rental websites.

Orange visitors will also be able to interact with the functionality currently available on the main Sidestep site, including the Ajaz technology to narrow search criteria and have full access to its content and user reviews.

The deal will be seen as a major coup for Sidestep coming just three month after its launch in the UK.

Kevin Eyres, managing director at SideStep Europe, said: “Travel search is the perfect solution for site owners who want to provide the best travel experience to their customers.

“SideStep’s innovative real-time search technology allows Orange to confidently provide its customers with the ability to find the best travel deals on the web.”

Sidestep in the US also powers travel search services for Amazon and a new high-end travel site from Forbes magazine.

The Orange deal marks the first part of a strategy to sign major partner deals in the UK and Europe.

Orange partner solutions director Charles Delamain said, “Providing our customers with quality services and solutions is a core ambition for Orange.

“Working with SideStep means we get a best–in-class travel search solution from the company that created the travel search category.”

The travel channel’s package holidays are powered by First Resort, City Breaks by OTC, and Ski Breaks by Iglu.com.
