Leading Chinese OTA signs with destination content provider
Destination content provider ArrivalGuides has signed a partnership deal with leading Chinese OTA eLong, part of the Expedia group.
eLong offers accommodation and flights to inbound visitors to China through its English-language site, but also offers hotels and flights to Chinese travelling overseas.
The OTA is jointly owned by Expedia and Hong Kong-registered Tencent Holdings and is Expedia’s main brand in China.
Swedish-owned ArrivalGuides, based in Gothenburg, already provides content to Expedia brands hotels.com and Venere.com.
Its guides will launch on eLong’s international sites and subsequently appear in Chinese when 50-100 of the most-popular destinations for the Chinese market have been translated.
eLong international business director Fernando Vazquez Cuesta said: “We value ArrivalGuides travel content, its coverage, completeness and accuracy.
“We are confident eLong customers will find it a great addition to our booking services.”
ArrivalGuides director of distribution Ola Zetterlof said: “This breakthrough signals Chinese travel suppliers put a key value on destination content as a business driver.”
Zetterlof added: “OTAs will be the fastest-growing online distribution channel in Asia Pacific through 2013.”
