Discover Travel & Tours, one of the UK’s leading inbound group tour operators, is to make its first major foray into online with the launch of a dedicated website to target overseas travel agents and tour operators.

The site – Mygrouptour.com – is expected to go live in February and will give hotels, coach companies, tourist attractions and guides in the UK the ability to register their services for overseas tour groups.

Tour operators and travel agents will be able to use the site in order to manage and book a complete group holiday in the UK, Ireland or the EU.

The launch will be backed by a trade and above-the-line marketing campaign to attract suppliers to the site.

It is hoped the registration system will ensure suppliers without any web presence or those with an information-only site will be able to tap into the lucrative group travel market.

Managing director Andrew Grieve said the website should not be “confused” with a listings or online portal.

“This is a major online tour operation that is the result of substantial investment,” he added.

DTT’s customer base is currently split between around 60% from the European Union – with Germany contributing the highest number of groups – with the remaining coming from the US and Canada.

Worcester-based DTT has been developing Mygrouptour.com for the past 12 months and is expected to preview the site at the Excursions 2006 – Group Travel Show at Alexandra Palace this month.
