Sabre Holdings has promoted Alex Alt to president and general manager of its Hospitality Solutions division.

Alt, who has been chief operating officer since April 2012, will take up the post from April after current chief Felix Laboy opted to leave to pursue personal interests.

Laboy joined Sabre in 2007 when the GDS bought his online hotel business E-Site Marketing which was merged with its hotel reservations division SynXis to form Sabre Hospitality Solutions.

In a statement Sabre said in the past year Alt has worked with Laboy to grow the business globally, and expand the Sabre Hospitality team.

Tom Klein, president of Sabre Holdings, said: “Sabre Hospitality has experienced exceptional growth in the past few years, and Felix has been instrumental in leading its evolution from a successful entrepreneurial business to a fully scaled IT solutions provider.

“It is now the fastest-growing business in our portfolio, and I’m confident that Alex’s customer-first philosophy and industry experience will serve him well to lead the business.”

Prior to Sabre Alt worked for Rosewood Hotels and Resorts as senior vice president of global development and strategy after a spell at McKinsey & Company as senior engagement manager.

In the late 1990s he worked in Sabre’s finance department before studying for an MBA at Harvard Business School.
