A lack of people within the travel sector with e-commerce skills to satisfy current growth levels is believed to be having a major impact on company recruitment policy.

This imbalance between the demand for new positions to be filled and the supply available within existing companies has led one of the sector’s leading recruitment companies to launch a dedicated division for online professionals to be lured into travel.

PureGenie, which will launch on December 11, has been created by Gail Kenny Executive Search and follows increasing demands by companies across the industry for people to fill positions made available by the creation of new online departments.

Associate at Gail Kenny Executive Search, Ian Brooks, said: “We believe that while there exists a good pool of online talent within travel, that it is insufficient to satisfy the demand, and travel companies are increasingly reluctant to allow good online management to leave.”

The site will target positions across the e-commerce market including search engine marketing managers, CRM managers, white label specialists, project managers, affiliate marketers and webmasters.

GKES, run by managing director Gail Kenny, has brought in Claire White from Octopus Travel to be a dedicated online travel account manager.
