Former Lastminute and Voyage Privé boss John Bevan has been appointed managing director of the European arm of online network SpaFinder Wellness.

Bevan, who has 25 years experience in travel, announced his departure from the French-owned member-only travel deals club last month after two years at the helm.

He will develop new products and oversee the introduction of new technology at US-based SpaFinder Wellness Global Network which brings together 20,000 providers globally.

SpaFinder Wellness chairman and chief executive Pete Ellis said: “As we look to expand our reach and offerings in the UK, John’s exceptional background and proven abilities in Internet marketing, online sales, staffing, and management make him a formidable managing director and the perfect person to head this division.

“In other countries, we have greatly expanded our gift card program and introduced a new lastminute sales product to help spas and yoga/fitness/Pilates studios manage inventory. I look forward to John bringing these initiatives to the UK.”

SpaFinder, which was founded in 1986, recently re-branded as SpaFinder Wellness, to reflect the company’s more diverse  focus. In 2012 it launched a corporate wellness program.

Bevan said: “I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic and forward-thinking business and look forward to using the 25 years’ experience I gained in travel to further develop SpaFinder Wellness in the UK.

“Spa and wellness have the same opportunities in online distribution and sales that travel companies experienced a few years ago. It is exciting to be part of a changing and expanding industry.”
