Accor has revamped its mobile solutions following a 20-fold rise in bookings via moblie applications in four years.

The French hotel group claims its mobile apps and websites notched up over 10 million unique visitors in 2012.

As a result, a new version of is multi-brand accorhotels.com app has been introduced, allowing users to book rooms at 3,500 hotels in over 90 countries. This app has been revamped with a tailored search function, a new, more user-friendly design, hotel video and photo previews and access to reservations.

A new dedicated Ibis app is being released which allows users to book stays in 1,600 Ibis, Ibis Styles and Ibis budget hotels, and includes practical functions like geo-location and hotel previews. The Ibis app is part of the group’s strategy to modernise and renew the three brands and represents a “significant stage” in a drive to become the “digital benchmark” in economy hotels by 2015.

The apps are available for Android, iPhone and Blackberry operating systems. The accorhotels.com and ibis.com mobile websites have also been revamped to make them more user-friendly and are also available for more than 7,500 different internet-enabled mobile devices.

Accor direct sales and loyalty programme senior vice president Isabelle Birem said: “Our mobile solutions allow our customers to find a hotel under any circumstances at the best price, with a completely secure system, no unpleasant surprises and directions to get there by the shortest route.

“The launch of these new mobile solutions is the first stage of our effective mobile strategy and will help us develop stronger relations with our customers.”
